This survey result is not surprising as many online threats and scams have invaded today’s web community.
These seals are a primary consideration on the checklist of many people visiting a website as it gives them a strong sense of security. It builds a satisfactory level of confidence and trusts amongst merchants and consumers. It permits visitors of a website to freely disclose private information without any badge of doubt that it might be used unlawfully.
For these reasons, this form of website verification is also more popularly referred to as trust seals, security seals and sometimes verification seals or certificates.
Some of the leading internet security companies have formulated 3 fundamentally efficient types of seals to address these 3 basic concerns. These are the Security Seals, Privacy Seals, and Business Identity Seals.
(1) Security Seals address credit card concerns and other related personal information provided by the visitor. It is the most popular type of verification. It comes in two types; Server Verification and Site Verification. (3) Business Identity Seals address visitors concern as regards to the authenticity of the business. Authenticity is in regards to having a real address, phone number, e-mail address, etc… It gives visitors peace of mind in knowing “you are what you say” (e.g. Better Business Bureau, Validated Site and Trust Guard).
Online merchants can have any of the three types of Seals depending on the nature of their business and on the type of consumers they serve. However, to have all of these types provides for a higher level of consumer trust and as well as conversion rate.
